Funky socks are fun! Ever thought of making your own? Then come spend
the afternoon with Amy Rooney, the master dyer behind Vivid Fiber Arts yarns.
You will learn the basics of applying and setting acid dyes on wool yarn,
including safe materials handling and wool care. In addition, you will explore
ways for making different color effects, and dye a pair of your very own.
No experience is necessary for this class. You can combine this class with the Saturday morning Gradient Dyeing class for a full day of colorful dyeing fun.
This class will feature a bit of standing time, but alternate arrangements can be made for students upon registration.
All dyes and chemicals are generally regarded as safe if used with appropriate precautions and protective equipment. There will be no dye powder in use in this class. If you have extreme skin sensitivity or a history of allergic skin reactions, please contact instructor to discuss before class.
This class will be held outdoors under heated tents. Dressing in layers is advised. Don’t wear anything you wouldn’t mind becoming “unintentional colorful”.
All students should wear old clothing, no jewelry, and have hair tied back. This class will be held outdoors under tents. Dressing in layers is advised.
