How do they make those self striping socks? The commercial
yarn industry uses computers, but knowing the gauge of the knitted yarn,
mathematically it can be determined how much yarn to dye for any number of
rows. In this class, using a calculator and graph paper, you will design your
self striping socks, then dye the yarn to make it happen.
What skills or knowledge do students need to take this class? Willingness to get messy and have FUN!
What will you talk about and/or demonstrate & what will students do? Students will dye 4 ounces of superwash sock yarn in their choice of colors and pattern, based on their calculations.
Nancy can be emailed at email@example.com
There is a $20 material fee included in registration fee.
Instructor provides: 4 ounces of superwash wool, dye, brushes, and handouts with all the information needed to repeat the process.
Students need to bring: apron or old shirt, 2 large old towels, rubber gloves if they care about hands, calculator, pen, paper.
